Do I need to renew my WHEA anti-doping licence every year?
Yes. WHEA licences and anti-doping contracts are renewed annually. All athletes must complete the renewal process each year, even if their details have not changed.
What is the deadline to renew my licence?
All licences must be renewed by 31 January 2026.
Failure to renew by this date may result in your licence and anti-doping contract lapsing.
How do I renew my licence?
Licences are renewed via the Suomisport system.
As part of the renewal process, you will:
- Log in to your Suomisport account
- Pay the annual licence fee
- Re-confirm the WHEA Anti-Doping & Competition Contract
The anti-doping contract must be accepted each year and forms part of the licence purchase.
I was a member previously. Do I need to do anything different?
No. If you held a WHEA licence previously, simply log in to Suomisport and renew your licence.
This ensures your membership and anti-doping status continue without interruption.
I am not planning to compete in 2026. Do I still need to renew?
If you wish to keep your anti-doping contract active, you should renew your licence even if you do not plan to compete.
Allowing your licence to lapse may result in a four-year waiting period before a new anti-doping contract can be issued.
What is a Coach / Non-Competing licence?
A Coach / Non-Competing licence:
- Keeps your anti-doping contract valid
- Does not allow participation in WHEA-sanctioned competitions
This option is suitable for athletes who are resting, injured, or not competing but wish to remain in good standing.
Can I upgrade a non-competing licence if I change my mind?
No.
If you select a Coach / Non-Competing licence and later decide to compete within the same licence year:
- You cannot upgrade the licence
- You will be required to purchase a full competitor licence at full cost

What happens if I do not renew my licence?
If your licence is not renewed:
- Your membership and anti-doping contract will lapse
- You may be required to wait up to four (4) years before a new anti-doping contract can be issued

Can I compete without a valid licence and anti-doping contract?
No.
A current licence and signed anti-doping contract are mandatory for participation in all WHEA-sanctioned events. (POSA affiliated events)
